Rabbits belong to the same family as hares, pigs, etc. Rabbits either live in homes or the wild. Sometimes, rabbits are kept in homes as pets. There are many different rabbit species.

Rabbits live in homes and forests. In homes, they are generally provided with sleeping cages or pens. In the wild, they make their homes in burrows. The burrows are customarily dug underground.
Fact Number 2: What they eat
Rabbits are herbivorous, and they feed on a high-fiber diet. They eat vegetables such as carrots, fruits, leaves, etc. Rabbits love fruits but do not eat meat. Rabbits have to eat continuously because of their digestive system.

Rabbits make noise. When happy, they purr, and they do this by softly chattering, their teeth, growling, screeching, chattering their teeth. Rabbits purr like cats.

Rabbits have long ears which grow up to 10 centimeters in length. The ears can turn one hundred and eighty degrees. This means that rabbits have a good sense of hearing. The ears also help the rabbits regulate their body temperatures.

Rabbit eyes are positioned on the sides of their heads. This means rabbits can turn their eyes almost three hundred and sixty degrees. Hence, it is difficult to sneak upon them.

Rabbits have twenty-eight teeth, four incisors, two mini incisors, and twenty other molars and premolars. The teeth never stop growing, but they wear off due to constant chewing.

Rabbits are not very large in body size. At maturity, they can grow to over four feet. The largest rabbit ever recorded was twenty-five kilograms.

Rabbits are social animals. They rarely live alone. In the wild, they live in colonies, making them breed rapidly.

Rabbits breed rapidly because of the short gestation period between 28 and 31 days. Rabbits can give birth to more than ten babies. A female rabbit is called a doe, a baby rabbit is called a kit, and a male is called a buck.

Because of their size, rabbits can jump with their two feet little over three feet high. Sometimes they can jump up to 10 feet long.

Wild rabbits can live for one to two years. In captivity, a rabbit can live for between eight to ten years. Sometimes, rabbits are known to live for a more extended period. The oldest recorded rabbit was more than seventeen years.
