Kiboko Returns (Sahara Series 9: Hippo 6)

Description

After Kiboko, the male hippo, was taken away by the KWS rangers from Kariuki, Omollo, and Ouma, who had planned to slaughter him and sell the meat in Naivasha town, he was escorted home to Lake Naivasha. On the first night, the hippo did not go home. The hippo went home the following day. Kiboko found the female hippos huddled together. Fearful that the females would ask him about the whereabouts of Maboko, the female head, Kiboko ran to Lake Naivasha and dipped his body in the lake waters. After a few minutes, the hippo courageously walked home, but found the female hippos gone. Kiboko went looking for them. Once he found them, he appointed Mama Daboko as the new head of the herd.
