IS DEMOCRACY DEAD? (Drums of War)

Women, men, and children, where are you?

The generation that believed in dialogue, peace, and democracy?

The pacifists for one world, one people, with a common destiny?

Them that valued the sanctity of life, casting evil into obscurity.

Wanting no part of it, where are they?

Why have we let nefarious warmongers rule us?

Them that think they are necromancers and sanctimonious,

Should we let them destroy our democracy,

Our way of life,

With nebulous ideas?

They thrill at our sufferings,

Spitefully destroying tenets of democracy,

Negating on their moral duties, if they have any.

They thrive on vending hatred.

Venting their emotions on the innocent.

Shamelessly thumping chests, heads held high, rejoicing at the altar of death,

Delighting at the sight of blood, laughing at our tears, the misery of the innocent.

Them that are intimate friends of the devil, intoxicated with insatiable power,

Being impervious of our needs, ranting gibberish about the need to defend us,

Yet, we only have transcendent faith for a mystic tomorrow.

Are we going to offer libation for our sins and theirs too?

Who will be jubilant them or us?

Who will stop them, I ask?

And halt sowing of evil seeds that will germinate into more evil?

Where are the women and men of yesteryears?

Them that believed in dialogue, confining their emotional hatred to themselves.

Fighting the great wars first unconcerned with the lesser conflicts.

Them who were conventional to our needs,

Holding us in dignity and self-esteem.

Ruminating over our future, content at the flourishing of democracy.

Where are they?

Where is the council of elders, our leaders, to decide on this particular issue?

To stop the heartache, the tears, the misery,

And sanctify life.

Are we going to sit and watch, content at doing nothing?

Where are they? Where are they?

Where are they! They! They! They!
